W/W (Weight/Weight)

‘w/w’, often referred to as ‘weight over weight’ is a term used to describe the concentration of components in a solution.

More specifically, w/w is expressed as the mass of solute (active ingredient) dissolved in 100g of solution. For example, if a solution is described as containing 10% glucose in water by mass, it means that 10g of glucose is dissolved in 90 g of water resulting in 100g of solution.

The w/w of Abler’s omeprazole products is clearly marked on the packaging. It is important to understand that the ‘w/w’ value can differ between Abler products, despite containing the same active ingredient, and this will impact the recommended dosage rate.

Understanding w/w in Abler products

  • AbPrazole Granules: This product contains 25% w/w omeprazole, meaning that for every 100g of AbPrazole, there will be 25g of omeprazole.
  • AbPrazole Tablets: This product contains 25% w/w omeprazole, meaning that for every 100g of AbPrazole, there will be 25g of omeprazole.
  • AbPrazole Paste (formerly AbGard): This product contains 37% w/w omeprazole, meaning that for every 100g of AbPrazole, there will be 37g of omeprazole.
  • AbPrazole Plus Granules: This product contains 25% w/w omeprazole, meaning that for every 100g of AbPrazole, there will be 25g of omeprazole.
